Crafty Corner: Fabric Checkbook Bag

For years I had been using this old, ratty Lesportsac bag to carry my checkbook and checks (yes, I’m an old lady who keeps a checkbook). But its grodiness was finally too much to bear so I whipped up a new fabric checkbook bag.

For this bag I used fabric I had in my stash (cute orange bicycle fabric for the outside and gray swirly pattern fabric for the inside) and bought a peach 9″ inch zipper.

I measured my current checkbook, made a rough sketch of the dimensions of the bag I wanted to make, and cut my fabric with my rotary cutter.

I ironed both fabric pieces before sewing so there would not be any wrinkles on the finished product.

I then sewed my inside and outside pieces to the zipper and then to themselves. I used these two tutorials (one & two) as a guide which provide perfect instructions (better than I could write!)

Here’s the final product!
